Grace when choosing her show name we were going to call her Elgert Amazing Grace - in hindsight we should have as to us she will always be our Amazing Grace.

In her nearly 14 years she thrilled us both in the show ring and at home - one in a million dog who just loved to please - nicknamed 'Mrs. Goody two shoes' as she just didn't do anything wrong - I wouldn’t have changed one bit of her as I loved her to bits and enjoyed showing her more than any other Field I have owned.  She really knew how to pull the stops out and dazzled just when she needed to.  She really was one in a million dog.

In her show career she had an amazing time as she really did shine in the ring - she loved to show and loved to test me - she would suddenly just decide that a leap round the ring would be soo much fun - even at a show at 8yrs old she bounced round the ring making everyone who knew her just love her - she really was the most gentlest of dogs.

Grace was such a show girl that she was happy for others to show her and I was always delighted when the juniors took her in the ring.  Both Abi Stone and Meg Oliver took her in to Junior Handling Competitions when they started out, Meg did a fabulous job especially at the Crufts F when Grace put on one of her 'special performances' Meg handled it so well, I like to think that many years later now when Meg shows her own Pointers she remembers the naughty Grace and her antics.

Melissa was only 6mths old when we bred Grace so they have totally grown up together - Melissa's cot was in the whelping room with me for the first few weeks of the litter whilst I watched over the pups and Melissa - they were an inseparable duo. Even for Melissa's Christening photos the young Grace came out for the photo session - which is still one of my all time favorite photos !

Her highlights of her show career :-

● 18 CC’s

● 2012 Best of Breed Crufts

● 2013 Bitch CC Crufts

● 2010 Best in show FFS Ch Show

● 2011 Shortlisted to final 8 in Gundog Group National Gundog & being on the cover of the next years' Catalogue

● 2011 Top Field Spaniel

● 2013 Best Veteran Bitch FSS Show

● Junior Warrant

● Show Certificate of Merit

Sadly she only ever produced 2 boys in 2009 - one of them the gorgeous SH CH Elgert D'zzee Rascal with Sonnetend JW who I gave to the Sonnetend family and he has greatly influenced the breed with his progeny - something that I am immensely proud of.  My new youngsters – the future litter – Elgert Back to the Future, Elgert Future Past & Elgert Into the Unknown, are grandchildren of him so Grace great grandchildren.

One in a million dog who is so greatly missed and will always be treasured and loved in our hearts - a gentle soul right to the very end
